A Rolex boutique has opened at Oakridge Park, and it carries all the hallmarks of a decade-long partnership between Global Watch Company and Rolex. The 390-square-metre space is GWC's second Rolex boutique in western Canada, following the one that opened in 2016 as the country's first. Sassan Pourfar, founder and CEO of Global Watch Company, called the opening a continuation of that history rather than a departure from it. “For a decade, Vancouver has entrusted us with its most meaningful moments, and we view this expansion as the next chapter in our shared story,” he said.

Design Language Borrowed from the Watches Themselves

The interior takes its cues directly from Rolex's own design vocabulary. The fluted bezel found on Classic Rolex models shaped the motif running through the exterior façade, while a Verde Alpi marble wall in the reception area carries a veining pattern that echoes the sea, a fitting reference given how central the marine world has been to the brand's history. American walnut runs throughout the woodwork, paired with seating in green velvet and leather, and the display cases are lined in beige leather with bronze trim. A custom stucco piece depicting the Vancouver skyline grounds the room in its city, even as every other detail points back to Geneva.

What to See in Person

Any visit is worth timing around the boutique's Novelty Timepieces, chief among them the Jubilee Dial Oyster Perpetual and the 100th Anniversary Oyster Perpetual. Both pieces anchor the current collection on display and give patrons a reason to see the showcases in person rather than browse online, with the fluted bezels and finishes reading entirely differently under the boutique's own lighting and Verde Alpi backdrop than on a screen.

Craftsmanship That Continues Past the Sale

Rolex describes itself as an integrated and independent Swiss manufacture, producing the majority of its watch components across four sites in Switzerland, with a fifth under construction. Every Oyster Perpetual and Perpetual movement is tested in-house under the brand's Superlative Chronometer standard, a certification marked by a green seal and periodically checked by independent laboratories. That standard follows the watch home. The boutique's upper level houses a dedicated service area staffed by Rolex-certified watchmakers, authorized to carry out after-sales care on the brand's timepieces, so ownership is treated as an ongoing relationship rather than a single transaction.

A Lounge Built for Conversation

The boutique sets aside a lounge area anchored by a bar crafted from American walnut and brown Emperador marble, a space meant for sitting down and talking through a choice of model at an unhurried pace. It is where the specifics of a particular reference, a particular finish, get worked out over time rather than at a counter, with the Jubilee Dial and 100th Anniversary pieces often the starting point for that conversation.

Part of Something Larger

The boutique sits within Oakridge Park itself, the nine-acre development from QuadReal Property Group and Westbank that has positioned itself as considerably more than a shopping centre. Alongside its retail, the site is building toward homes, offices, and cultural programming as part of a five-million-square-foot vision for the neighbourhood. Within that context, the Rolex boutique reads less like a single storefront and more like an early chapter in a district still being written, one where a decade of trust between GWC and Rolex now has a permanent home.
